ลำต้น สูงถึง 7 ม. เป็นพุ่ม

ใบ ใบรูปไข่กว้าง 6.5-25.5 ซม. ยาว 12.5-38.0 ซม. ปลายใบมน โคนใบ

ดอก ดอกขนาดใหญ่ ขนาด 8-13 ซม. กลีบดอกสีเหลือง 5 กลีบ ดอกร่วงง่าย

ผล สีแดง ชมพู หรือขาว เกือบกลม เมื่อแตกจะเป็นรูปดาว 

เมล็ด สีแดง 

พบที่ระดับความสูงจากระดับทะเลปานกลางถึง 500 ม.

ขยายพันธุ์โดยการเพาะเมล็ด

ใบและราก ใช้รักษาอาการอักเสบ คัน ปวดท้อง และยังช่วยฟื้นตัวของผู้หญิงหลังคลอด
